- What does our soul look like? Is it well with your soul?
- Maybe you have never asked that question, or it’s been a long time since you’ve even thought about it.
- Do you have a regular prayer life?
- Do you experience the rest to your soul and heart only God can bring?
- Soul health is not about perfection, it’s about trust.
- Our life is lived out in relationships…with God, our self, and others.
- You cannot know your true identity apart from God.
- People have defined SOUL in many ways through the centuries. The dictionary defines soul (noun) as:
- “The immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life. The spiritual principle embodied in human beings; a person’s total self.” https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/soul
- “The spiritual part of a person that most religions believe continues to exist after their body dies. Part of the person capable of thinking and feeling.” http://www.macmillandictionary.com/dictionary/british/soul
- The soul is our connection point with God. God is about life and well-being (or shalom).
- QUALITIES OF OUR SOUL:
- Honesty/Integrity
- Love/Compassion
- Wisdom/Understanding
- Forgiving
- Disciplined Life
- Persevering
- Responsible
- I believe we cannot develop these qualities in our own strength or power. But if we come to God in humility and surrender, realizing we cannot earn His love, but only accept it as a gift, because Jesus Christ came into the world and paid the penalty for every wrong thing (sin) we have ever done and will do. Death could not keep Jesus in the grave, but he rose from the dead so that you and I can have an eternal life also.
- Asking for forgiveness by acknowledging what Christ has done for us, brings intimacy with the Holy Spirit who develops qualities in our life.
- The Psalmist speaks of God in Psalm 16:11 (NIV) “You make know to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
- Maybe you reject the Christian faith. We can still work together, as long as you are willing and open.
- God loves and believes in you!
